Sleep Eating?

Sydney was so tired last weekend that she fell asleep while eating her favorite sweet potatoes during lunch. Daddy told me that it was a true sign that she's a Denk. Apparently, some Denks, not to be named (big Jim), have been known to fall asleep anywhere... even while eating. :)

And yes, we left her there until she woke up.

Silly Baby

Sometimes, she just makes the cutest faces. I can only imagine what she's thinking (see captions if you want my guesses). Here are a couple of my recent favorites.

I call this the Family Guy Stewey look. "Look here, Daddy. Enough with the camera and get your *%#@ in this pool or I'll produce enough bubbles to blow everyone out of it!"

"I'll be crawling any day now, just you wait and see, Mommy. And then, you're mine. Everything on this floor and within reach is mine... all mine... mwahahahaha!!!"

"Seriously, this swing should have been built for side sleepers."

Visit from Uncle Mike & Aunt Kathy

Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathy stopped by for a few days on their way to the city of lights. Everyone had a really good time visiting, watching Sydney, swimming and playing Wii. Poor uncle Mike was a little sore from Tiger Woods Golf. Good thing you only have to push a button to play slots these days. Warning to all who bowl with Kathy... lefty has a mean spin so look out!
Since it was football Sunday, Syd had to dress up for Uncle Mike. Go Steelers!

Her First Photo Shoot

We just now took Sydney in to get some professional photos taken at 6 months of age! (I know... I know... bad mommy to not have already done this!!) She did just awesome! It took very little effort to get her to smile for the photographer, which made it really hard to choose pictures to have printed. They gave us a CD of the pictures, so we made a slideshow of the unedited jpeg's so you can get an idea of how many cute pictures there were. (See top right navigation. You may have to click play. You can also click on the slideshow to view bigger pictures.)

Here is one of my favorites though. She's so kissable!!!

NFL Season is Here!

We're starting off the season with a cute little pink Steelers onesie that Grandma Denk sent her. (Sorry about the drool spots.) Chiefs and Cardinals outfits to come. :)

Go Steelers! Go Chiefs! Do your best Cardinals.

6 Months Old

Sydney turned 6 months old on September 4th. She's getting so big and is more amazing every day. She is rolling over both ways now. She is so close to crawling, but gets as far as doing push ups and then collapses. She is also scooting herself backwards. She gets frustrated because she wants to crawl so bad. We take her for her 6 month check up on Monday, so I'll update this post with stats after that appointment.

Update: 6 months stats: Wt 17.12 lbs (75-90 %ile, Ht 27 1/2" (95-97 %ile), Noggin 17 1/4" (75-90 %ile)

Here's a picture of Daddy and Sydney watching the NFL season kickoff game.

After the game and a nice bath, she decided (with a little help from us) to put on a little dance in her ducky sleeper.

Katherine & Bob's Wedding

Technically, this wasn't Sydney's first wedding since she was in my belly for our wedding in Hawaii. Let's just say this was the first wedding she got to dress up for. :) She wore a beautiful pink and black dress that her uncle Mark gave her right after she was born. Since she is getting so big, that was really her last opportunity to be able to wear it. I'm glad she did because she looked beautiful in it.

Since I was with the bride getting ready for the wedding, Daddy had to get Sydney fed and dressed for the big event. Daddy showed up in his suit and a baby bijorn with Sydney in it. You had to ride a gondola up to the wedding site which was at the top of Aspen mountain. She did really well with it all except for throwing up on Daddy and herself.

First Vacation - First Sit Up

Sydney just took her first vacation - a trip to Aspen, CO. She did awesome on the plane rides and caught many passenger's eyes, but for good reasons, like how cute she is. She did get a little bit sick the first day or two, but her schedule was all a whack so I'm sure that had something to do with it. That and the change in altitude. Nonetheless, we were able to get some cute pics with her smiling.
Here she is laying on the bed in the Bed and Breakfast.

This is the first time Sydney actually sat up unassisted. Well, she needed help getting there, but then was able to stabilize herself. So cute!
