Food on a spoon?

The doc gave us the ok to start her on cereal, so Sunday was our first try. I thought she did pretty good as far as opening her mouth and accepting the spoon. She just really didn't know what to do with it from there. It was and still is a little bit of a game for her. She'll tolerate and laugh through the few spoonfuls and then let us know she's over it and wants the bottle. Here are the pictures of her first bite and her first cry from being "over it". I'm sure it won't be long before she figures this out and starts gobbling it down.

4 Month Stats & A New Friend

We went to the doctor today for Sydney's 4 month check up and immunizations. The doc said she's doing great and that she looks/checks out healthy. He did say that her gums looked a little swollen, so she is probably starting to teethe already. The other sign is the increased amounts of drooling. So, it's time for teething rings. We also agreed to start her on cereal since she is showing interest in what we are eating and the breast milk/formula may no longer be enough now. One thing we know for sure is this kid is not deprived of food and is growing, growing, growing.

Drumroll please... Sydney weighed in at 15 lbs 10 oz!!! She's 26 inches long and her head measures at 16 3/4 inches. That puts her in the 90%ile for weight, 95%ile for height and 75-90%ile for her noggin size. Doc says she's all good and growing according to the curve. We did make up a chunky monkey song today while waiting for those dreaded immunizations. She liked the song, hated the shots. :( She's doing fine though. She slept alot today, but is doing fine. What a trooper.

This picture was taken today. Sydney was mucho comforted by her new friend, Mr. Ducky. This is the first toy she has really taken a big liking to and cuddled with it. Ahhhh... too cute.

My First Swim

Ok, so she talked me into it. Although I didn't have a swim suit for her (naked baby alert... naked baby alert!), I decided to take her in the pool to see how she would react. It was right at dusk so we could avoid the hot Arizona sun, especially since she can't wear sun screen before six months of age.

So, I stripped her down and in we went. She loved it! She kept kicking her legs, smiled and didn't show one ounce of discomfort, displeasure or stress. I think we have a swimmer on our hands!

My New Chair

We bought her a new chair to help her with sitting up. She looks like such a big baby in this chair! I can't believe how fast she is growing. She did spit up like crazy being in this position. I took her bib off to take pictures, so don't mind the stains on her shirt. She did request control of the remote too. ;)

Happy 4th of July!

We spent the 4th of July with friends this year at Katherine and Bob's condo down on Tempe Town Lake. It's one of the better places to see fireworks in Arizona and they have a great view from their balcony. (no need to fight crowds, which is awesome.) We weren't sure how Sydney was going to handle the loud noise or if she would even be awake for the display. We got our answer. Here's Sydney passed out on their couch.

She did end up waking up at the sound of the fireworks and wasn't too pleased. She was fine if she was held. Katherine did end up taking her downstairs where it was a little quieter. She slept like a log from that point on. There were 3 other kids there as well. They were not bothered by the noise at all. Below are Sydney and Olivia getting to know each other well before the fireworks started. Olivia is just 2 weeks older than Sydney.

Katherine, Andrea and Raquel enjoy some tasty margaritas. (Olivia enjoys her thumb.)
